Hello there!

Are you ready to create a business around doing what you love?

Everyone has a special talent, skill or point of view.  The internet and social media make it easier than ever to share our gifts with the world and profit from it.

People are more likely to buy from people and brands they know and trust.  The key is to build a fan base, a platform or a “list.” When you have a fan base, a captivated audience that values your content, they’re more likely to buy from you or try products you recommend.

Don’t have a fan base?  Neither did I when I got started.  I’ll teach you how.

Are you interested in making a great living at something you truly enjoy?  Or maybe you have a career you love, but want to take your income to the next level?  Using Social media will help you create a platform for your personal brand and attract people who are interested in what you have to say.

When you have a strong platform, opportunities present themselves.

YouTube-StarIn his book, Brandscaping, Andrew Davis discusses successful partnerships between corporate brands and online celebrities.  My favorite example is Lauren Luke, a former taxi dispatcher who sold makeup products on eBay to supplement her income.  She created makeup application videos on YouTube to improve sales.  Some of her most popular videos were tutorials that  recreated celebrity looks, like the makeup Britney Spears wore in her music video Toxic.

Some of her home made, no frills videos have been viewed more than 4 million times.  She drew the attention of an agency that helped her finance and launch her own makeup line in Sephora.  Soon after, she garnered a book deal and appeared as an avatar in the Nintendo DS video game Supermodel Makeover By Lauren Luke.  Today, Lauren estimates her brand is worth over $100 million.

The internet and the desire and discipline to provide value to an audience provides new opportunities for wealth.

Use your curiosity to become an Expert.

Are you an expert or authority in your field? I didn’t think I was.  But I decided to turn my so called weaknesses into strengths and become an expert in something I was fascinated with, but knew nothing about.  As it turns out, when you know nothing about a subject it’s easier to relate to people who are in the same position.

“Worry not that no one knows of you; seek to be worth knowing.”

Don’t underestimate the power of the Fandom.

The book Fifty Shades of Grey was a phenomenal best seller.  It was not an esteemed literary work by any stretch.  In fact, critics gave it scathing reviews. So how did this mediocre book trilogy sell over 200 million copies?  It’s author E.L. James is a brilliant marketer.  Before she began writing the book, she connected on social media and established a fan base.  She knew exactly what her audience wanted and gave it to them.  Social media allowed the Fandom to grow, making the book series and movie an overwhelming success.

What is the single most important factor in having a successful business?  I’ll give you a hint:  it’s not a great product.  It’s a customer.  You can’t make a sale without a customer.

Michael Jordan has customers.  Nike has products.  Together they make sales.

The formula is simple.  Share what you enjoy.  Find people who want it.  Make money.
